Artist Statement:
These pieces are made with a “stone” called Fordite. The “stones” are a by-product of the motor industry and were grown right here in Michigan at the Ford plant’s paint shop. Unfortunately these beautiful pieces haven't been produced since the 1970's. So, I guess you would call them a piece of the motor industry’s history. I used sterling silver to create simple, yet effective, designs in order to put an emphasis on these wonderful “stones” themselves. |
Fordite Care:
Please treat Fordite like you would a pearl. Do not use sterling silver cleaners, like dips or pastes. Instead, use a polishing cloth to clean the sterling silver. Always store in a safe place that will not cause the Fordite to bounce around with other jewelry or other items, this could lead to scratching or worse chipping or breaking. I’m sure you will receive many complements and questions about your new pendant. If you have any questions about how Fordite was formed, please feel free to email me. |
